The African Journal of Rural Development (AFJRD) is an online open-access journal published quarterly. The AFJRD publishes original research papers comprising emerging issues in rural development; authoritative reviews; synthesis articles and editorials; chapters and book reviews; and short communications that may not warrant publication as full papers. All submissions must have a focus on sustainable development of rural communities and improving livelihoods generally and as such, authors and contributors will be required to contextualize their work to fit this focus and scope. The primary purpose of the AFJRD is to share knowledge, on all aspects that contribute to sustainable rural development and improving livelihoods and development broadly as widely as possible. All articles and opinions therein published in the AFJRD reflect the authors' views and not necessarily those of the African Journal of Rural Development.

Submission of a paper implies that it has not been submitted or published elsewhere and that the author(s) accept the conditions for publication outlined in the AFJRD author guidelines. Once accepted for publication, author(s) transfer the copyright of their articles to the AFJRD unless expressly exempted in writing by the copyright holders. The AFJRD is copyrighted and those wishing to use illustrations or data from the journal in other publications should obtain permission from the Publisher (RUFORUM), and include a line of acknowledgment of the AFJRD as the source of the material.

Screening for Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the representation of another author's thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work. To ensure originality, we check each submission for plagiarism with dedicated software, to prevent such unethical practices. If proof of plagiarism is found in a submission, it is rejected outright.
